New Kids Tablets arrive October 14
Amazon has announced Android-based Kids Tablets alongside its new Alexa Tablet lineup. The Kids Tablet 8 and Kids Tablet 11 will be available to purchase October 14, 2026, for $230 and $330, respectively, according to Engadget.
Parents can restrict the software and content their children access, including managing access to the Google Play store, The Verge reports. That gives parents a way to set boundaries around the tablets’ app access.
A higher entry price and two screen sizes
The $230 starting price represents a higher entry cost for families. Engadget says past Fire Kids tablets regularly started at $100, though that comparison does not identify a specific older model.
The Kids Tablet 8 has an 8.7-inch screen, while the Kids Tablet 11 has an 11-inch screen. Those sizes correspond to the Alexa Tablet 8 and Alexa Tablet 11.
Amazon offers two case styles aimed at different ages. A soft bumper case with a handle is intended for children ages three and up. A slim hard case with a folding kickstand is intended for ages six and up.
Kids+ adds content and voice-created stories
Both tablets include one year of Amazon Kids+, a subscription that Engadget describes as offering ad-free books, shows and games. The bundle gives families content to use alongside the tablets’ app access.
Amazon’s announced software includes Alexa for Kids and a Dynamic Tab, which recommends content based on children’s age ranges. Amazon also describes a new Kids+ feature, Storybuilder, as letting children use their voices to create illustrated stories.
For families comparing the models, the clearest choices are screen size, price and case style. Parent-managed Google Play access adds another consideration: deciding what software and content a child can use.
