Fitbit Edge adds a screen between Air and Pixel Watch
Google announced the $179.99 Fitbit Edge on October 12, 2026, opening preorders through the Google Store. Retail availability is scheduled for October 27.
Google places Edge between the screenless Fitbit Air and the more advanced Pixel Watch. It gives buyers a slim fitness-tracker format with a display for checking information on the wrist.
Google says the screen's viewing area is 46% larger than that of previous Fitbit trackers. Announced features include Google Maps, media controls, weather information, and call and message notifications.
Coaching comes with a subscription requirement
Edge extends Google Health Coach to another device format. The service was already offered on Pixel Watch and Fitbit Air.
TechCrunch reports that the Gemini-powered coaching service can use fitness, health and medical information to create weekly routines and workout plans. It can also adjust those plans around a user's schedule, according to the report.
Using Coach requires a separately sold Google Health Premium subscription, the Google Health app and an internet connection. Edge purchases include three months of Premium, so buyers who want continued coaching need to account for a subscription beyond that period.
The planning features have a clear medical limit: Google says neither Fitbit Edge nor Google Health Coach is intended for medical purposes or medical advice. Google also says feature availability varies.
Battery conditions and phone compatibility matter before buying
Google rates Edge for up to seven days per charge. That estimate comes from testing before production using a usage profile based on features enabled by default in Battery Saver mode. Actual battery life may be lower, so the rating is not a promise of seven days for every user.
Edge works with most phones running Android 11 or later, or iOS 16.4 or later. It also requires a Google Account, the Google Health app and an internet connection. Before the scheduled October 27 retail launch, buyers can check their phone's compatibility and decide whether they want the ongoing coaching subscription.
