Apple TV 4K adds hands-free Siri, with November 13 availability

The new model costs $299, according to The Verge. Some older Apple TV 4K models will also support Siri AI in beta, giving current owners a reason to weigh the hardware changes.

Preorders open ahead of November availability

Apple announced its fourth-generation Apple TV 4K on October 13, 2026, and opened preorders that day. Availability is set for November 13, 2026. The Verge reports a $299 price and identified Apple as the only preorder retailer at publication.

The update combines an A19 chip, built-in microphones for hands-free Siri control, and support for a four-speaker HomePod surround setup. But the Siri AI software is also coming in beta to some older models, according to The Verge. That makes hardware features an important part of the upgrade decision.

Siri AI extends beyond the new Apple TV 4K

Apple says Siri AI, its artificial intelligence assistant, supports conversational searches for entertainment through a full-screen interface. Follow-up answers appear over the video during viewing. The new device has three microphones designed to pick up voice commands from a distance, allowing hands-free control.

The Verge reports that Siri AI will work in beta—a test version—on second-generation Apple TV 4K models and newer. Existing owners therefore may not need the new box to get conversational search. That compatibility report does not establish when the beta will reach older devices.

Apple also says Siri AI can draw on personal context from an iPhone enabled for Apple Intelligence, its AI features. That capability depends on a compatible iPhone as well as the television device.

Faster processing and a four-speaker option

The A19 replaces the A15 Bionic used in the discontinued 2022 model, according to The Verge. Apple says the new chip offers up to 50 percent faster central processing unit performance and up to twice the graphics processing unit performance. Those measures describe general computing and graphics speed; they are Apple's stated maximum gains over the previous generation.

For home audio, Apple says the fourth-generation model supports four speakers using HomePod mini 2 or HomePod (2nd generation). Each front pair and each rear pair must match. Buyers planning that setup should check their speaker models against those requirements.

Remote-finding features also reach older hardware

Apple says the new Siri Remote adds Find My support, including Precision Finding to help locate it and an option to play a sound. The Verge reports Find My tracking for second-generation Siri remotes and newer, but that does not establish that older remotes get every new locating feature.

For current owners, the practical distinction is between new hardware and features that may reach devices they already have. The new model adds hands-free microphones and the supported four-speaker setup, while reported Siri AI beta compatibility extends to older boxes. November 13 is the scheduled hardware availability date; the older-device beta timing is still unestablished.
