Apple unveils $299 HomeView display for shared household tasks

HomeView brings home controls, calls and personal apps to a household screen. Its connection to an iPhone or iPad shapes how users access personal information.

HomeView preorders open ahead of November launch

Apple unveiled HomeView, a $299 smart display designed to bring connected home controls and everyday apps to one household screen. Preorders began October 13, 2026, with general availability scheduled for November 13, 2026.

HomeView comes in tabletop and wall-mounted versions. Engadget reports that both offer the same overall functions, making placement the main announced distinction between them.

Apple's announced home-control features include viewing camera feeds, adjusting thermostats, controlling lights and locking doors through Siri, its voice assistant. These functions would put several household controls in one place.

A shared screen with personal information

Apple says HomeView supports FaceTime calls, music playback, photos and apps such as Calendar. That would let household members move some routine tasks from an iPhone to the shared display.

Apple says Siri's artificial intelligence can recognize up to six people and change the displayed information and apps for each user. The promised benefit is a shared screen that presents information specific to the person using it.

That personal experience depends on another device. Engadget reports that HomeView draws personal data from an iPhone or iPad and requires users to unlock that device periodically, with a special setting for overnight intervals.

App access also differs from downloading apps directly onto the display. According to Engadget, HomeView's menu shows recently used apps, and bringing an iPhone close lets users transfer audio or recipes to it.

Accessory timing remains separate

Apple also announced Home Collection accessories developed with LG and Schneider Electric. Engadget reports prices ranging from $199 to $349, but says Apple has not disclosed their availability date.

For buyers planning around the launch, HomeView has a scheduled November 13 release; the accompanying accessories do not yet have an announced date. The display's arrival and the accessories' availability are therefore separate milestones.
