The reported redesign also changes widget and in-app colors, while keeping icon appearance choices. The beta design could still change.

Apple Music’s new look includes color choices
Apple Music’s red app icon has been replaced by a black-and-white version in the iOS 27.2 beta, The Verge and Engadget report. Engadget identifies beta 4 as the version containing the redesign.
Users still have appearance choices, according to Engadget: a white-on-black dark-mode icon, a Clear version and tinting to a chosen color. That means the monochrome redesign still allows a colored icon.
The color shift extends beyond the icon. Engadget reports that the beta removes red from Apple Music’s home-screen widgets and changes the app’s pink/red tint to blue.
For now, these are changes in a beta—a test version of the software. Engadget cautions that the design could still change, so it is a preview of Apple Music’s possible appearance.
