Mobiles join the space exploration game

Hello Games announced that No Man’s Sky will launch for iPhone and iPad on October 28, 2026. Engadget reports that preorders opened October 12 and that the game will be free to try.

The space exploration and survival game reached Mac in 2023. Its move to iPhone and iPad adds another way to play on Apple devices.

No Man’s Sky brings several control options

Hello Games co-founder Sean Murray says the game will be playable on iPhone 11 and third-generation iPad Air and above. Those stated requirements give owners of older devices a starting point for checking compatibility.

Engadget reports rebuilt touch controls, controller support and TV casting, which lets players display the game on a television. On iPad, mouse and keyboard support adds another input option.

The game occupies less than 5GB of storage on iPhone and iPad, according to Engadget. That figure helps players plan space on their devices ahead of release.

Launch leaves out multiplayer and settlements

Engadget reports that the mobile version includes updates from the past decade, with two exceptions at launch: multiplayer and settlements. Players hoping to play together will therefore need to account for that initial limit.

The restrictions match those of the original Nintendo Switch port, according to Engadget. Multiplayer and settlements later reached the Switch 2 version, but that history does not establish a schedule for mobile.

Murray said future support for the mobile version would depend on player feedback and player numbers. He gave no feature timetable, so anyone choosing the iPhone or iPad release should base that decision on its announced launch features.
