Tesla Roadster unveiling scheduled six years after original readiness target
The October 15 appearance could clarify how close the delayed electric sports car is to production. Its original performance promises date to 2017.

Tesla Roadster returns to the calendar
Tesla’s next-generation Roadster unveiling is scheduled for October 15, 2026, at 8:55 p.m. Eastern Time, according to Engadget—six years after Tesla’s original 2020 readiness target.
Tesla introduced the updated electric sports car in 2017, but repeated delays followed, Engadget reported. That history makes the path to production a central question for the upcoming appearance.
From performance promises to production readiness
At the 2017 reveal, Tesla promised a 620-mile range and a zero-to-60-mph time of 1.9 seconds, according to Engadget. Those figures provide a reference point for any updated specifications Tesla presents.
The Verge’s October 14 preview described the forthcoming appearance as an expected production-ready debut, meaning a car ready for manufacturing. For prospective buyers, that would be a different milestone from the original introduction, though an unveiling alone would not establish when deliveries begin.
Engadget cautioned that another delay remained possible. If the event proceeds, the useful questions are whether Tesla establishes production readiness, provides delivery timing and updates its original performance promises.
